iSKATE is a glossy A4 monthly news magazine which focuses entirely on topics relating to British ice skating - figure, dance and synchro.

It was launched in September 2006, originally with 10 issues but now 12 issues per year. It has already built an enviable reputation ….. highly respected by everyone from skaters of all ages to skating parents, skating clubs, BITA, coaches, judges, NISA, rink managers/owners and businesses associated with skating and rinks.

When we launched we said: “We will challenge the powers-that-be when they do something which is unpopular with skaters. We will question policies and changes and probe anything which needs investigating.” Not only have we done exactly that, and will continue to do so, but NISA has responded positively to many of the suggestions that have been made in the magazine.

Averaging 56 pages per issue, the magazine’s comprehensive coverage includes everything from open competitions to internationals and from tips on learning to skate to a Fit to Skate section with articles ranging from how to perform a perfect spiral to nutrition, off-ice exercises, and drawing up periodised training programmes. There are pages specifically for younger readers, including the much-loved Rosie Rinkstar page (and associated merchandise) plus coverage of ice shows and Dancing on Ice as well as news about existing and planned new rinks etc.

The magazine has included a number of articles specifically about coaching or of real relevance to coaches. The March issue looks at whether coaches are getting a fair deal from NISA and subsequent issues will look in depth at coaches’ education.

iSKATE is on sale through clubs and rink shops or by subscription which offers a 5% discount off the cover price and free postage and packing.

Many coaches already appreciate the value of buying copies of the magazine to sell on to their pupils. iSKATE is happy to provide copies to BITA members on a sale or return basis with the coach getting a free copy AND keeping 10% of the cover price of copies sold.
